Matt Baker has opened up on his new career path and revealed the real reason behind leaving The One show.
Speaking to Gabby Logan on her popular The Mid Point, the TV presenter, 46, discussed quitting his high-profile BBC gig with The One Show back in 2020.
The father of two reflected on that time in his life by saying: 'It was that part of me saying, "Look, was this ever a goal?", and "What are you actually working towards?".
He continued: 'You think to yourself, I'm doing this chat show at seven o'clock on BBC One, does the goal then become, I'm just going to do this forever? What is the point of continuing with something that you've done for nine years?'.
'And then I thought, I'm just going to [leave]. I'm just going to go because if I don't, I will probably be here forever.'

He also revealed to Gabby that he loved the element of production and directing and decided that it was time for him to set up his own production company.
The star expressed his pride in his production company at the end of last year when he promoted their TV series My Life at Christmas which saw celebrity guests reveal their treasured festive traditions.
Matt is now set to launch a new Channel 4 TV show called Baker's Britain, in which he will travel the country and meet incredible people along the way.
Announcing the news, he said: 'This new series encompasses everything we love as a production company celebrating the people who make Britain great.
'We look forward to filming in all four nations continuing our successful relationship with Deborah Dunnett and Channel 4.'
The series will dive into rural communities in the UK and will be comprised of four episodes.
The much-anticipated series is currently produced by Big Circus Media, a production company owned by Matt and former The One Show executive Gareth Collett.
It comes after Matt recently spoke out on a debilitating health condition which is affecting his life.
The television host is no longer 'able to bend forward' after a back injury that he sustained during his pantomime run.
Matt spoke to Gabby Logan on the Mid Point podcast about the health problem that has been bothering him.
The presenter continued: 'You think to yourself, I'm doing this chat show at seven o'clock on BBC One, does the goal then become, I'm just going to do this forever? What is the point of continuing with something that you've done for nine years?'
He said he sustained a painful 'slipped disc' while rehearsing for his pantomime.
When Gabby asked Matt - who was once a gymnast - if he was still able to do backflips, he said: 'No, I can't now. I've injured my back.
'I can't tell you how upsetting it is as an ex-gymnast, not to be able to bend forward.'
He went on to explain how the injury came about, saying he had a mishap during rehearsals.
Matt explained: 'I did my back in. I was doing a panto. I was doing Goldilocks and the Three Bears and we were practising with the stunt chairs, and the chair wasn't set correctly and bang!
'I went down on my coccyx and it turns out I slipped a disc in my back.'
Matt attempted to recover through training and rehab but now has injections to manage the pain.
Referring to his wife Nicola Baker, Gabby pointed out that he lives with a physiotherapist.
He responded: 'I know, exactly - so we tried all that. Went for the nerve block [injection]..'
It comes after Matt and his wife Nicola Money celebrated 20 years of marriage as they appeared on Lorraine earlier this month.
The presenter and his partner, who tied the knot in 2004, spoke with guest host Christine Lampard about their new Channel 4 show Our Farm Dream.

The Countryfile star, who described their years together as a 'fun adventure' told the story of how the couple met.
He said: 'When we met I was a gymnast in a 1970’s re-enactment group, disco inferno it was called, I used to wear wigs so you would never know it was me. Nicola was working up in a club in Cleethorpes where we played so that’s how we met.'
Nicola added: 'When I met Matt as a teenager was when I fell in love with the farm and the countryside and that way of life. Before that, I had no experience of it.'
